Generic Letter Text:
Dear ____________,
I am a resident of Brooklyn and am very concerned about the closing and removal of important health care and wellness services from my community SLATED FOR JUNE 29, 2007. Central Brooklyn has some of the worst health statistics, for all ages, in the state and the city. Our infant mortality rate, and low birth weight rate is very high. We have very high rates of Asthma, HIV/AIDS, cancer, chronic diseases, and many other illnesses in our community. Yet, we have seen hospitals close, a community health center close, many health clinics, and several WIC centers close.
If you do not do something to intervene, along with the community, we now face the loss of more services and further erosion of our safety net of health services. I invite you to come and visit our community to see for yourself the problems that we face. More importantly, I ask that you oppose the closing of the Kingsbrook clinics and WIC centers by pressuring the state health department, and help find a way to save, and improve, health services in Central Brooklyn.
Respectfully,
