As the Research Manager, Alexandrea Hatcher oversees research projects from start to finish to better inform The Opportunity Agenda’s initiatives. She manages external evaluations, reports, and supports original research for The Opportunity Agenda. Alexandrea enjoys the collaborative aspect of her role to bridge the gap between research and staff, partners, and folks directly impacted. Her priority is to create research that is evidence based and digestible to reach as many of our members as possible.
Prior to joining The Opportunity Agenda, Alexandrea worked for 10 years in education reform and previously within the drug policy reform movements. As a licensed social worker, she is driven by inclusivity and feels that the best research is that which includes those most impacted. During her work at the Drug Policy Alliance, she did just that by hosting convenings to include folks in original research, onboard scholars of color to their growing network, and push for more inclusivity within the drug policy movement. She later joined the United Federation of Teachers as Community School Director to work side by side with the Bronx community to manage a federal grant that delivered mental health and wellness services, teacher supportive services, family support services, and education access.
Alexandrea holds an MSW from New York University and a BA from the University of California, Davis in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies. In her free time, she enjoys spending it with her animals and loved ones.
