Ellen brings to The Opportunity Agenda a remarkable breadth of expertise, knowledge, experience, and relationships among leaders at the local, state, national and international levels. She comes to the organization from The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and The Leadership Conference Education Fund, the nation's oldest and largest civil and human rights coalition, where she has served as Executive Vice President for Field and Communications and in other key positions since 2003. Ellen started the organization's field and organizing program, and has a range of expertise from serving previously in state and national institutions and campaigns.
At The Leadership Conference, Ellen developed and oversaw the vision for the integrated field, communications, and policy work at the center of the organization; led and put into place dozens of successful campaigns; spearheaded mobilization, training and support to national, state, and local coalitions; and created innovative organizing and communications training models for advocacy around the country and at the international level. In addition to her extensive knowledge of social justice leaders, movements, and tactics, Ellen has deep experience and knowledge on a range of issues, including Voting Rights, the importance of a Fair and Independent Judiciary, Immigrant Rights, Economic Opportunity and Workers' Rights, Racial and Gender Equity, Criminal Justice Reform, and LGBTQ Rights.
