Tell Senate to Reject Scalia as Labor Secretary
On Tuesday, the Senate’s Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions voted along party lines to advance Eugene Scalia's nomination for labor secretary. Advocates, working people, and policymakers have argued that Mr. Scalia is unfit for the job due to his history of aggressively fighting on behalf of corporate power at virtually every turn during his long career as an attorney. He has frequently defended corporations against government regulations. Scalia has also spoken glowingly of the administration’s new overtime pay rule that was finalized this week. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that the chamber will vote on his nomination this week before the upcoming two-week recess. Protest Scalia’s nomination by citing the values of Economic Security, Voice, and Community.
