Jheanelle Wilkins is an advocate for underserved communities and dedicated to creating greater opportunity for all people to live their best lives. She has pursued this passion through advocacy for a decade at The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the nation’s premier civil rights coalition, where she is the Director of State and Local Government Affairs. Jheanelle also serves in the Maryland General Assembly, representing the state’s 20th legislative district. Jheanelle is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which tackles state legislation dealing with education, revenue, financial resources and election law. She has successfully passed legislation to curb racial profiling, address maternal health, advance trauma-informed education, and promote the economic security of Maryland families. Jheanelle obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Delaware and a Master of Public Administration from the American University in Washington, D.C.
